The Money Is Not In Your List...

It's true...`The money is not in the list'

The other day I was talking with an aspiring marketer who
was struggling to build her list.

She said, "I've been trying for 7 months to build my
list and I've only got 3,300 subscribers...and it's not
making me nearly enough money to quit my job. Can you
help me with that."

And I told her, "Yes, but first you have to understand
one thing...the money is NOT in the list."

That got her attention!

Seems like you can't crack open a book about marketing
online that doesn't tell you 'the money is in the
list.'

I'm telling you, I knew a guy with 167,000 subscribers
who couldn't pull a penny from his 'monster list'
while another guy I know makes bucket loads from
less than 1,300 subscribers.

Understand that the number of subscribers has little
to do with it...so the money has to be 'somewhere else'
besides the list.

Let me explain...

I can show you how to get as many new subscribers as you
can handle...and even more.

And that is important, don't get me wrong. Obviously if
you have NO subscribers, then there's no money period.

But stick with me here...

You just need to make a little shift in your thinking
to see where the money really is and once you 'get this'

See, a list sounds like a faceless mass of 'names' on
a computer disk somewhere.

But a list doesn't have a wallet.

People do.

Remember that. Because your list is really about a single
human relationship between you and your subscriber.

You're not writing to your list...you're writing to
Bob, or Janet.

And that is where the money is...it resides in the power
of your connection with each and every person who requested
to be on your 'list.'

See, anyone can have a list, but if you do it right, you
create a relationship with a friend...and that multiplied
is where the money is.

That one shift in your thinking will save you from a lot of
massive mistakes many marketers make...like promoting junk
that they don't believe in.

See, if you believe you are emailing your friend Jessie,
you will write differently than if you are writing an
'ad' to send to your 'list.'

If you know what Jessie is concerned about...you'll
write in a way that talks straight to Jessie and you
get the warm response that you'd get from a friend
instead of the cold, guarded response that people give
'marketers.'

And your power to communciate will grow as you become more
close to your friend and let yourself relax and be more
open and personal.

The connection will grow stronger...your promotions
will be more engaging because of the trust, the respect,
and the invisible friendship that you build.

That is where the money is, and you can build that into
your list.
